A 47-YEAR-OLD resident of Daet, Camarines Norte was jailed by the local police on charges of grave threats and illegal possession of firearm, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, Brigadier General Mario A. Reyes said yesterday.

Ferdinand John Suzara yielded a caliber 40 semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing 10 live ammunition when arrested in Barangay VII by responding members of the Daet Municipal Police Station, said the Bicol police director.

The suspect failed to present any gun registration paper when arrested. A record check also showed the gun recovered from his possession is not registered with the police force.

Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC), Lieutenant Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. commended the Daet police for immediately responding to a call for assistance from a local resident in distress.

“Authorities had to arrest him for posing threat to the complainant and for failing to show any document authorizing his possession of the said firearm. I commend our personnel for the quick response regarding this complaint,” Lt. Gen. Danao said.
