Daet municipal worker nabbed for shabu
A local government-employee-turned top drug trafficking personality in Bicol region was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Basud, Camarines Norte last Sunday, Police Regional Office 5 director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo said yesterday.
Suspect Michael Angelo Ng, 35, a regular employee of the Daet municipal hall yielded 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some P5,000 worth of shabu and the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill during the sting conducted by the local police around 2:50 p.m. Sunday, said the official.
According to Brig. Gen. Estomo, members of the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office and the Basud Municipal Police Station under Col. Julius D. Guadamor, the suspect was arrested during an entrapment operation in Purok 1, Barangay Matnog in Basud municipality.
The official said that the suspect has been tagged as a ‘high-value individual’ since he is a local government employee who has been long under the radar of local police authorities for his reported involvement in drug trafficking activities in his neighborhood.
The suspect is now being held at the Balud Police lock-up facility facing charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
