Creamline clobbers Cignal in PVL
CREAMLINE made quick work of Cignal, 25-16, 25-21, 25-15 to seize the early lead in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
Except for the second set where the HD Spikers kept things interesting, the Cool Smashers were dominant in the one-hour, 24-minute match to post their second consecutive win.
“Tine-train namin kung paano maka-recover kapag nalalamangan kami, nahahabol. Kailangan focus pa rin sa game plan namin na maging maganda ang service receive namin,” said Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Siyempre, beterano ang team namin so alam nila kung paano maka-recover,” he added.
The Cool Smashers hardly missed their leader Alyssa Valdez with the immense firepower the defending champions have.
Michele Gumabao led Creamline anew with 14 points, including two blocks, and to go along with eight digs, while Jema Galanza and Tots Carlos each scored 13 points.
Cool Smashers setter Jia de Guzman tossed in 25 excellent sets and fired two service aces while libero Kyla Atienza collected 20 digs.
“Overall, naging maganda ang galaw namin today. Sana magtuloy-tuloy,” said Meneses.
Ces Molina paced Cignal with 12 points while Chay Troncoso chipped in six points.
The HD Spikers, who were outhit, 23-48, stumbled to their second straight setback.
