Couple robbed, stabbed by hired driver; 1 dead
NAIC, Cavite – A 34-year-old woman on Thursday was stabbed dead while her husband is under observation in a hospital after they were robbed and stabbed by a man they hire to drive their car for a business trip in this municipality.
Police identified the victims as Marlon Cantuba, 35, and his wife Czarri Marie Cantuba, 34, of Sitio 1 Gulap, Candaba, Pampanga.
Czarri Marie succumbed to a fatal stab wound in the neck.
Marlon was injured after he was stabbed in the head by the suspect.
Suspect identified only as alias “Jomar,” 43, of MH Del Pilar St., Malate, Manila, fled with the couples’ P2 million cash and car.
Investigation showed that around 4a.m. on Thursday, the couple travelled to Cavite from Pampanga, with the suspect as their driver.
They are supposed to go to Cavite Technopark in Bgy. Sabang, Naic to negotiate for frozen meats for their business.
It was learned that the suspect was the one who made the offer to purchase the frozen meat in Naic.
Upon reaching Governors Drive in Bgy. Sabang, the driver pulled over the car and asked the male victim if he could drive. The suspect said he was sleepy.
Moments later, he told the couple to alight from the vehicle then stabbed Marlon in the head.
The suspect then pointed the knife at the woman while forcibly taking the bag containing the P2 million.
When the suspect got the bag, he stabbed Czarri Marie in the neck and fled with the couple’s car and money.
Even though wounded , Marlon was able to seek help from a barangay mobile patrol who passed by the area.
The couple were rushed to the hospital, where Czarri Marie died while undergoing treatment.
Police are hunting down the suspect.
