A 54-YEAR-OLD vendor was seriously injured, while his live-in partner was slightly wounded when they were attacked and stabbed by their neighbor inside their abode Sunday afternoon in Malabon City.

Nelson Rama was rushed by his live-in partner Vivian Collantes, 52, to Valenzuela City Medical Center for treatment of a stab wound in the back, while Collantes was also treated for a superficial stab wound in the chest.

Elements of Malabon Police Sub-Station 1 led by P/Lt. Joseph Almayda immediately conducted a follow-up operation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest, identified as Ronaldo Reyes, 34, while preparing to flee from his house at East Riverside, Bgy. Potrero.

In his report to Malabon Police Chief P/Col. Albert Barot, Homicide Investigator P/SSgt. Jeric Tindugan said the victims were washing their clothes inside their house at East Riverside, Bgy. Potrero, when the suspect forcibly barged inside while armed with a bladed weapon at around 3:00 p.m., and treacherously stabbed Rama in the back.

Collantes tried to intervene, but she was also attacked and stabbed by Reyes, but she was able to ward him off, causing minor injury to her chest.

The commotion caught the attention of their neighbor, prompting the suspect to escape on foot.

Investigators are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive behind the incident.
