Couple, baby die in Negros road mishap

A COUPLE and their two-month old baby on Wednesday died when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a water tanker in Negros Occidental.

Police identified the fatalities as Joemar Jirasol, 29; his wife Angeline, 19; and their baby boy, all residents of Bgy. Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Angeline’s 10-year-old brother, a resident of Don Salvador Benedicto town, survived the accident.

San Carlos City Police Station deputy chief of police Capt. Roger Pama said the fatal road mishap occurred at Sitio Ulay, Bgy. Prosperidad, San Carlos City.

The family was on their way to Don Salvador Benedicto when they met their tragic death.

Water tanker driver Mykill Galgo, 24, of Sipalay City, told police that he lost control of the vehicle causing it to struck the victim’s motorcycle in front driven by Joemar.

Galgo said he was supposed to overtake the motorcycle but lost control of the water tanker, hitting the motorcycle.

Joemar, Angeline and their baby died on the spot. Their remains were recovered underneath the water tanker.

Angeline’s brother sustained injuries after he was threwn off the motorbike. He was brought to the hospital for treatment.

Responding lawmen arrested Galgo.
