THE camp of model Deniece Milinette Cornejo has asked the Taguig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) to order the immediate transfer of television host Vhong Navarro to the Taguig City Jail.

Navarro, Ferdinand H. Navarro, in real life, is currently detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention center in Manila for a non-bailable offense of rape.

In a three-page manifestation with an urgent motion to transfer, Cornejo, thru counsel, pointed out that the law requires Navarro to be detained at the City Jail since the case he’s now facing is non-bailable.

“Comes now, the complainant Deniece Cornejo, through the undersigned counsel and unto this Honorable Court, respectfully moves for the immediate transfer of the place of detention of the accused from NBI detention center to Taguig City jail,” the manifestation read.

The manifestation added that with the arrest warrant for the non-bailable offense of rape against Navarro by the court, the rules of court provide that the arresting officer should bring the accused to the nearest police station or jail without unnecessary delay.

The Court of Appeals 14th Division directed the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office to file the charges against Navarro after reversing the twin rulings of the Department of Justice (DOJ) last 2018 and 2020, dismissing the cases filed against him by Cornejo.

According to the CA, the matter of determining who is telling the truth should be left to the discretion of trial courts.

On September 19, 2022, the Taguig RTC Branch 69 issued a warrant of arrest against Navarro for rape.

Presiding Judge Loralei Cruz Datahan recommended no bail for Navarro’s temporary liberty.
