THE Cordillera Police Regional Office has boosted its anti-criminality and anti-insurgency patrols with its acquisition of 36 brand-new patrol vehicles.

The vehicles were turned over by PNP Director for Comptrollership, Maj. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. and PNP Director for Logistics Support Service Brig. Gen. Mario Reyes to the Cordillera police during simple ceremonies held at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Azurin officially turned over the new vehicles to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, which were acquired through the PNP’s 2021 Capability Enhancement Program.

Also present during the event were Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas, Rep. Eric Yap, and the mayors of 13 Benguet municipalities.

The 36 vehicles are composed of 30 units of Toyota Hi-Lux Single Cab 4×2 Patrol Jeeps and six Toyota Hi-Lux 4×4 Personnel Carriers.

Thirteen of the patrol jeeps will be distributed to each municipal police station in Benguet while the rest will be used by the Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province Police Provincial Offices and the cities of Baguio and Tabuk.

The six Personnel Carriers will be used by the Abra, Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao and Mountain Province PPOs and the Baguio City Police Office.

“The new mobile patrol cars will boost the mobile patrol operations of PROCOR as part of the intensified security drive in the communities in times of crisis and emergencies. Also, it will help decrease the response time to all incidents reported to the PNP and other usage that will benefit the community within the Cordillera region,” said Lee.

Lee thanked the PNP leadership headed by Gen. Dionardo Carlos for providing them with much-needed additional “move, shoot, communicate and investigate” equipment.
