CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Some P2.4 million worth of marijuana stalks and dried leaves on Wednesday was confiscated from two drug suspects and a male minor courier in a buy-bust operation at Poblacion in Tuba town.
In a report to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Wilkins Villanueva, PDEA-3 Regional Director Bryan Babang identified the suspects as Laista Pedro, 20, of Kibungan, Benguet; Jimmer Bedkingan, 27, of Atok, Benguet; and a minor suspect, who was turned over to the local Social Welfare Development Officer.
The drug sting was conducted by operatives of the PDEA Nueva Ecija Provincial Office, PDEA Benguet, PDEA Baguio City and the Tuba police Station.
Seized were 20 tubular pieces wrapped with packaging tape containing dried marijuana stalks and leaves, weighing at least 20 kilos and valued at P2,400,000, the marked money, four cellular phones and one Tamaraw FX.
Babang said the entrapment was launched based on information from a tipster that the suspects were engaged in the bulk distribution of marijuana in Nueva Ecija and the nearby towns of Tarlac.
The suspects will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
