JAEN, Nueva Ecija – The “getaway car” used by a lone gunman in the November 13 midnight killing of barangay captain Mark Vic “Macmac” Pascual in Bgy. Don Mariano Marcos is now in the custody of the Nueva Ecija police.
The car was recovered inside a residential compound in Camia St., Bgy. Mayapyap Norte, Cabanatuan City around 7:40 p.m. Monday.
According to Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino, the getaway car was traced after reviewing all of the CCTV footages that it passed through from Jaen until it arrived at the said place in Cabanatuan City.
The recovery operation conducted by the Special Investigation Task Group Pascual was implemented pursuant to a search warrant issued by the Executive Judge of the Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court dated November 18, 2024.
Police identified the subject of the search warrant as a dismissed police officer in Nueva Ecija, who went AWOL or Absent Without Official Leave.
According to Lt. Col. George Caluad, SITG operations leader, the ex-policeman was not around when the operation was conducted.
The recovered car was described as a Hyundai Accent color silver with license plate NDX-4667 registered in the name of a woman from Bacoor, Cavite.
According to Caluad, they are currently coordinating with the Highway Patrol Group to find out other details about the ownership of the said car.
Recovered inside the Hyundai Accent were a cal. 45 pistol ARMSCOR, five rounds of cal.45, one magazine and a center-mirror dashcam.
Seized inside the former cop’s house were a fragmentation hand grenade, a plastic sachet containing shabu weighing five grams with a street value of P34,000; and a Marlboro red case.
Germino said the operation was carried out Monday night or more than five days after Pascual’s ambush on Wednesday.
At least P300,000 has been offered as bounty for any information that would help resolve Pascual’s murder.
The initial P100,000 came from Mayor Sylvia C. Austria and Vice Mayor Sylvester C. Austria while the other P200,000 was offered by spouses– San Leonardo Mayor Elan Nagano and former Congresswoman Dr. Maricel Natividad-Nagano.
