Cops probe Bataan arsenal explosion

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — B\Gen. Valeriano de Leon l, regional police chief, has ordered an investigation on the cause of the explosion at the DND Government Arsenal in Limay, Bataan last May 26 causing the death of two workers.

According to Bataan PPO Provincial Director, Col. Joel Tampis, a sudden loud explosion rocked Bldg. 27 of the DND Government Arsenal in Bgy. Lamao, Limay.

After the smoke cleared, two persons identified as Macreldo Rodriguez and Allan Wisco sustained minor injuries but two others, namely Ricardo Solomon and Marvin Tatel, died on the spot due to severe wounds.

Initial Investigation revealed that the mixture of explosive chemicals being handled by Solomon and Tatel in a separate room exploded for still undetermined cause, while a portion of Bldg. 27 and other machineries were damaged due to the explosion.

Tampis said the Crime laboratory and EOD Bataan already conducted a crime scene investigation.

De Leon also said the Bureau of Fire Protection is coming up with the final investigation as to the actual cause of the explosion, while the cost of damage is still undetermined.
