ZARAGOSA, Nueva Ecija–Nueva Ecija police foiled a robbery attempt of four unidentified armed men at the branch of the Tarlac II Electric Cooperative (TARELCO) office in Brgy. Sto. Rosario Young Sunday.

Four security guards and a lineman were on duty when the robbery attempt ensued, said Nueva Ecija police chief Col. Richard V. Caballero.

The attempted robbery, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., turned into a brief exchange of gunfire after policemen arrived at the area and the four suspects immediately opened fire at the responding cops.

A Tarelco employee was hit by a bullet. He was rushed to the Dr. PJGMRMC hospital in Cabanatuan City for emergency treatment, said Police Captain Franklin D. Sindac, information officer of the Nueva Ecija police.

“Tumakas ang mga suspects, sa likod ng opisina dumaan papuntang bukid sa putikan,” he told the Journal Group.

“Walang nakuha ang mga suspek,” he added.
