Cops bust banca-riding drug dealer for P1M shabu

A DRUG dealer, using a small boat to peddle illegal drugs on a sea coast was arrested in a buy-bust operation Monday evening in Navotas City.

Rudy Las Piñas, 40, of Bgy. Tangos North was arrested by elements of Navotas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Lt. Luis Rufo, Jr. after he handed a small plastic sachet of shabu to P/Cpl. Glenn Ocampo while they were in a small boat floating at the seawater of Pulo, Bgy. Tanza 1 at around 4:36 p.m. in exchange for P1,000 marked money.

Operatives of SDEU seized from the arrested suspect more or less 174 grams of shabu with standard drug price of P1,183,200, a caliber .32 pistol with magazine loaded with six live bullets, a digital weighing scale, mobile phone, small notebook, P1,000 marked money, and a small boat he used in selling illegal drugs.

Navotas Police chief P/Col. Dexter Ollaging said the arrest of Las Piñas was the result of information gathered by SDEU operatives from fishermen in the area who uncovered the suspect’s illegal drug trade.

The suspect was presented for inquest proceedings before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office for violation of the R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and R.A.10592 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act.
