A TARLAC policeman arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Gerona municipality will be soon dismissed from the Philippine National Police force for grave misconduct apart from facing a lengthy jail term, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said on Sunday.

The PNP chief also ordered a thorough probe into the illegal activities of Police Corporal Geymar Orquero who was tagged as both ‘user and protector’ of illegal drugs operations in the province following his arrest.

Gen. Eleazar said he ordered Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier Gen. Valeriano T. de Leon to determine if Cpl. Orquero has other cohorts in the local police force in the ‘protection and the financing’ of illegal drugs operations in Gerona and municipalities.

“The RD, PRO3 PBGen Val de Leon has already assured me that this scalawag policeman was already disarmed and is currently detained. Aside from administrative charges which will lead to his dismissal from the service, separate criminal cases will also be filed against Police Corporal Orquero,” he added.

Orquero and his cohorts Marvin Gadia and Joel Umagat were arrested during a buy bust operation in Barangay Calayaan last Friday. Seized from them were suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and a Glock 17 with magazine and inserted ammunition.

Orquero, assigned at the Tarlac City Police Station, was allegedly a drug user and a ‘protector and financier’ of one July and and a certain Melvin Gadia who were both tagged as drug traffickers in Gerona and Tarlac City.

Gen. Eleazar lauded the Central Luzon police for its swift action on this matter.
