Construction worker killed by truck

A 20-year-old construction worker was killed when he was run over by an Isuzu Elf van Saturday morning in Caloocan City.

Arjay Zyrus Cimanes of Block 7 Lot 3, Manggahan, Malaria, Caloocan City was rushed to Caloocan Medical Center but was later expired due to severe head injury while undergoing medical treatment.

The driver of the van was identified as Junjun Tenedero, 46, of Bernardino St. Brgy. Gen. T. De Leon, Valenzuela City surrendered to the police after the incident and is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigation conducted by Caloocan Police traffic investigator P/Cpl. William Ramirez, Jr. showed that the victim, while onboard a Kawasaki Rouser motorcycle, was traveling along Uyguanco Road, Brgy. 187 Sto. Niño heading towards the south direction at around 6:30 a.m. suddenly lost control of his motorcycle in front of Maximus Pharmacy and accidentally fell on the road.

The driver of the Isuzu van, which was traveling in the opposite direction, tried to avoid the victim, who was thrown off the motorcycle on the other side of the road but the left rear wheel of his vehicle hit and run over Cimanes, causing severe injuries in his head.
