Construction worker held for gun, grenade

Camp Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas — A construction worker was arrested for possession of gun and ammunition in his house in Lipa City, Batangas, Monday morning.

A report by Batangas police director Col. Glicerio C. Cansilao by P/Major Neil Christoper Gaspar Acting Chief PIU-PPO identified the suspect as Christopher Olan, 36, with live-in partner, a construction worker and resident of Sitio Alibangbang, Purok 7, Bgy. Antipolo Del Sur.

Around 1:40 a.m. on July 26, at Sitio Alibangbang, Purok 7, Bgy. Antipolo Del Sur, Lipa City, personnel of the PIU Batangas PPO, OPD-DEU, SWAT 1st BPFMC, CIDG Batangas and Lipa Cities led by PLt. Adolfo Andrada under the supervision of P/Major Neil Christoper Gaspar, Acting Chief PIU-PPO, served a search warrant issued against the suspect by Vice Executive Judge Agripino R Bravo, of the Regional Trial Court- Branch 55 of Lucena City, Quezon.

The operating team seized an Armscor csl. .45 pistol, magazine loaded with seven live bullets and a hand grenade.

The orderly implementation of the search warrant was witnessed by Bgy. Antipolo Chairman Ruben R. Reyes, Kagawad Rebato Balmes along with Zenaida Ola, the mother of the suspect.

The suspect now detained at the police holding cell and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 known as Comprehensive Law on Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 9516 (illegal Possession of Explosives- Hand Grenade).
