Comelec starts printing of ballots for BARMM

THE Commission on Elections yesterday (Sunday) started printing the ballots that will be used in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for the May 9 synchronized elections.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez announced that the printing of the official ballots for the 2022 national and local elections have begun.

“Printing of official ballots for the 2022 National and Local Elections began at [approximately] 11:27 a.m. on January 23, 2022, at the National Printing Office,” he said.

Jimenez added that the total number of BARMM ballots to be printed is 2,588,193.

“Printing will start with the ballots for Lanao del Sur, numbering 685,643 ballots.,” he said.

The Comelec spokesman also disclosed that the printing of 60,000 official local absentee voting ballots began in Jan. 20.

He added that as of Sunday, the printing of both manual LAV and overseas absentee voting ballots is already completed.

Comelec earlier noted that over 67 million official ballots for the 2022 national and local elections will be printed.
