Comelec reports updates on ongoing registration

THE Commission on Elections on Thursday reported a total of 909,687 new registrants from July four to July 12.

Acting Comelec Spokesperson Atty. John Rex C. Laudiangco, of the Comelec’s Law Department, said that of the total figure, 571,740 belonged to the age group 15-17 y/o; 289,206 belonged to the age group 18-30 y/o; and 48,741 to the 31 y/o and above group.

Laudiangco said the poll body processed a total of 1,209,597 applications as of July 12.

These included 156,479 (BGY) + 942 (SK) applications for transfer from other cities/municipalities; 38,592 (BGY) + 224 (SK) applications for transfer from within the same city/municipality; 6,638 applications for transfer with reactivation; 2,346 applications for transfer with reactivation and correction of entries; 8,094 applications for transfer with correction of entries; 44,478 applications for reactivation; 10,335 applications for reactivation with correction of entries; 29,020 applications for change of names/correction of entries; 45 applications for inclusion of record in the Book of Voters; 14 applications for reinstatement of name in the List of Voters; and 2,703 applications for transfer from Overseas Voting to Local.

The nationwide voter registration period started last July 4 and is set to end on July 23.
