COTABATO CITY – A college dean, his nephew, and a couple on Thursday night were killed in separate ambushes in Sultan Kudarat province.

Lt. Col. Joseph Galleto, Lebak town police chief, identified the slain school official as Henry Racho, 51, dean and sports coordinator of Notre Dame of Salaman College (NDSC) – Lebak, and his 17-year-old nephew, both of Bgy. Cadiz, Kalamansig.

The victims were ambushed at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday while riding a motorbike in Bgy. Maregaeg, Lebak.

“It happened during a downpour,” Galleto said.

The teenager died at the scene while Racho died an hour later at a hospital.

“Losing (Racho) left a wound,” said Fr. Charlie Celeste, NDSC president.

“It’s the silence that fills the spaces where his voice used to be,” he added.

Later in the day, a couple was ambushed and killed in Purok Tambes, Bgy. Sta. Clara, Kalamansig.

Maj. Rodney Binoya, town police chief, identified the victims as Nestor Rondon, 67, and his wife Marilou, 60, both of Bgy. Sangay, Kalamansig.

The couple was ambushed at about 5:45 p.m. on the same day while riding a motorbike.
