A 30-YEAR-OLD cockpit arena operator was shot by a man for an unknown reason while inside the car in St. Joseph Subdivision, Barangay Darasa, Tanauan City, Batangas, around 8:30 p.m. the other day.
Police initial investigation showed that the victim, Mark Colin Reño, a resident of San Bernardo Village, Bgy. Darasa was on board his Toyota Fortuner when he was approached by the 23-year-old suspect, a resident of St. Joseph Subd., in Bgy. Darasa, on board a motorcycle and suddenly shot the victim but missed.
The victim quickly returned fire using his registered weapon, a Glock 23 Gen 4 Cal. 40 and hit the suspect in the stomach.
Police said the victim had a permit to carry firearms (PTC) outside the residence.
After the incident, the suspect immediately fled to C. P. Reyes Hospital for treatment and later was arrested after being positively identified by the victim.
The suspect is currently undergoing medical treatment with an assigned police escort at the said hospital and is facing charges of frustrated murder.
Authorities recovered the suspect’s M1911A Cal. 45 at the crime scene.
