Clean elections
IT is just more than two months before the off-season May 12 national and local elections.
But it’s heartening to know that concerned government agencies are doing everything to ensure the holding of clean, peaceful and credible polls,
Led by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), these state agencies are aware of the importance of the coming political exercises.
Everybody agrees that the results of the election, which is democracy in action, will play a crucial role in speeding up the country’s socio-economic development.
The government of President Marcos wants to ensure the holding of honest elections.
Of course, the poll body, with the help of deputies – police and military personnel – has been conducting checkpoints across the country.
This is part of government efforts to enforce the nationwide gun ban during the election period.
The poll body has also started removing election campaign materials posted outside the so-called “common poster areas.”
But what’s needed is not just remove these campaign materials.
Dapat kasuhan ang lahat ng mga violators, kasama na ang mga kandidato, para sila ay magtanda.
Tama ba kami, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia?
