CIGNAL captured the bronze medal in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference with a 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18 romp of F2 Logistics last night at the Philsports Arena.

Rose Doria took charge in a rip-roaring fourth set attack, pouring in seven of her 10 points as the HD Spikers pulled away at 17-9 before Vanie Gandler and Jacqueline Acuña came away with key blasts to help finish off the Cargo Movers, who scored four unanswered hits to move within four.

“For all the hard work and sacrifices that we put in, this win is so important for us,” said Cignal playmaker Gel Cayuna, who had a stellar 30-excellent set showing she laced with six points, including three on attacks and three service aces.

Ces Molina scored 19 points while Jovelyn Gonzaga capped her return to the HD Spikers with 18 points, including four blocks, 17 digs and eight receptions.

It was Cignal’s third PVL podium finish, as it also went third in the same conference last season.

After a promising start, F2 Logistics stumbled, as Kim Kianna Dy missed the last four matches due to injury, and failed to match its third place finish in the All-Filipino Conference.

“We survived the whole conference practically healthy. We had injuries but they were very light. We’re very happy with the bronze,” said HD Spikers coach Shaq delos Santos.

“Lumabas lang yung mga sakripisyo namin,” said Doria. “I struggled in the first two sets but did my best in the last two to help the team.”

Ivy Lacsina fired 16 points while Aby Maraño and Elaine Kasilag added 10 and nine points, respectively, for the Cargo Movers, who struggled on offense as the prolific Myla Pablo groped for form and wound up with four points on a three-set stint.

F2 Logistics tallied eight blocks with Majoy Baron and Mars Alba each had two.
