THREE lawbreakers, one of them a member of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in separate anti-criminality operations in the countryside this week, PNP-CIDG Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said on Friday.

In a report to PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said that one of the suspects, an active BJMP officer stationed in Handumanan, Bacolod City, was arrested for gun trafficking in Sitio Naluoyan, in Barangay Sapao, Dumangas, Iloilo around 1:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

Lee said that members of the CIDG Aklan Provincial Field Unit (PFU) conducted the buy-bust operation amid reports that the BJMP personnel is selling illegal firearms to interested buyers.

Confiscated from the possession of the suspect were one caliber .45 semi-automatic pistol with two magazines, three cal. .38 revolvers, his identification card, and the P39,000 worth of buy-bust money topped by a marked P100 bill.

The suspect is now being held at the CIDG Iloilo office. He will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

“CIDG will not be biased in law enforcement even if you are a government employee and also one of the enforcers of our government’s rules. I encourage our operatives to continue to pursue these criminals who pose a serious threat to national peace and security,” said Lee as he commended his men from Iloilo for arresting the suspect.

The official said that the two “most wanted persons” (MWPs) were also arrested in separate manhunt operations in Cavite and Rizal province on the same day by members of the CIDG Regional Unit 4-A headed by Lieutenant Col. Joel Manuel A. Ana.

One of the two, a man wanted for acts of lasciviousness in relation to RA 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law was arrested in Bgy. Daang Amaya 1 in Tanza, Cavite by members of the Cavite CIDG.

Judge Flordeliz Fargas of the Trece Martires City Family Court Branch 5 recommended a P180,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused, who had been tagged as the 2nd most wanted man in Cavite before his arrest.

The 2nd suspect was arrested by Rizal CIDG operatives in Northville Sitio Gitna, Bgy. Bagong Nayon in Antipolo City based on a warrant for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2013 issued by Judge Banuar Reuben Falcon of the Antipolo City RTC Branch 71.

The court set a P200,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the suspect, who was described as the 10th most wanted man on the list of the Rizal Police Provincial Office.
