CIDG agents net 7 MWPs

SEVEN of the country’s “most wanted persons” (MWPs) were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in a series of manhunt operations this week triggered by tips from informants, PNP-CIDG director, Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said on Saturday.

The official identified the now jailed three suspects, all arrested on Thursday; alias “Rosalie”; and 21 years old MWP, both arrested on Wednesday; another MWP on Tuesday, and a 17-year-old student wanted for rape and acts of lasciviousness.

“We have arrested six more most wanted men in the country in line with our stepped-up implementation of our Oplan: Pagtugis, the CIDG flagship project to account for all persons wanted by the law as ordered by PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.,” the PNP-CIDG director said.

Lee said that an MWP was arrested in Poblacion, Calabanga, Camarines Sur by local CIDG operatives on the strength of a warrant for lascivious conduct under Republic Act (RA) 7610 or the anti-child abuse law issued by Judge Pablo Formaran III of the Calabanga Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 63 last November 18.

A P200,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused, identified as one of the most wanted persons in Camarines Sur prior to his arrest.

On the other hand, a suspect was arrested in Roxas City, Capiz by CIDG Region 6 personnel based on a warrant for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Judge Joeven Dellosa of the Mandaluyong City RTC Br. 208 last December 12.

The accused was told to post a P200,000 bail for his temporary freedom.

The 3rd suspect, a resident of Bgy. Pasil in Cebu City was described as the 3rd MWP in the area was tracked down in his residence by local CIDG members and the Cebu City Police Office and arrested on the strength of a warrant for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Morya Nueva of the Cebu City RTC Br. 13 last December 13.

The 4th, with the alias “Rosalie” was arrested on Wednesday afternoon by members of the Laguna CIDG on the strength of a warrant for robbery with force upon things issued by Judge Rene Natividad of the Los Baños City RTC Br. 107.

A P72,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect who was arrested in Bgy. Calo in Bay, Laguna.

The 5th, a resident of Sampaloc 2 in Sariaya, Quezon was arrested last Tuesday by Quezon CIDG operatives based on a warrant for homicide issued by Judge Maricel Magpantay-Ng of the Lucena City RTC Br. 58 last October 7.

The Lucena City court recommended a P200,000 bail for the temporary release of the suspect.

The 6th MWP, the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Angela Mailom-Orendain of the Calamba City RTC Br. 92 was arrested in his hiding place in Cabuyao City.

The 7th, a teenager described as the no. 1 MWP in Roxas City, was arrested based on a non-bailable rape and acts of lasciviousness case issued by Judge Eric Anthony Dumpilo of the Roxas City RTC Br. 14 last November 22.

The child in conflict with the law was immediately apprised of his constitutional rights following his arrest. He is set to be turned over to the Roxas City Social Welfare and Development Office.
