CIDG agents bag 3 MWPs

PHILIPPINE National Police’s (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee, on Wednesday, announced the arrest of three of the country’s “most wanted persons” (MWPs) following separate manhunt operations.

He said that one of the suspects, a 44-year-old resident of Barangay Magsaysay in Bobon, Northern Samar was arrested in his neighborhood on the strength of a warrant for rape issued by Judge Alma Consuel Desales-Esidera of the Catarman, Northern Samar Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20.

Lee said that the two other suspects, both residents of Negros Occidental, were arrested in an entrapment operation.

Confiscated from the possession of the two who were tagged as “gun traffickers” were one caliber .45 semi-automatic pistol with two magazines containing four live ammunition and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P100 bill.

The official said that one of the suspects is a known member of the “Happy Go-Lucky Gang” who served a jail term at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) for a murder case and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The suspect was also identified as a former New People’s Army (NPA) member in the 1990s.
