THE appeal made by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos to ease quarantine restrictions on the church and other places of worship raised hope for leaders of different church ministries.

Willy Lasac of the Worldwide Soul Winners said Marcos is God’s instrument to help make the church stronger during this difficult and uncertain time.

“We really appreciate your heart, Senator Bongbong Marcos for putting yourself in our place and trying to keep in mind our well-being, physically, socially and mentally. You are God’s instrument, for such a time as this, to make us the church God wants us and needs us to be,” he said in a statement.

For its part, the Cenacle Harvest Ministries said that Marcos’ understanding of their predicament is a manifestation that he was raised in a God-fearing home.

“At this point in time, we are holding on to our faith alone to cheer us up and not to be consumed by fear, insecurity and anxiety. And we are looking to the church as an agent of change that will do God’s mission of restoration and reconciliation and wholeness in the face of brokenness, alienation and illness. You have been raised up in a God-fearing home which is being conveyed by the fact that you understand our predicament right now,” the ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Pastor Kenneth Andrew Durante of the Biyaya ng Diyos Revival Church said the church is blessed that Marcos took the cudgels for the church and other places of worship to give people opportunity to express their faith while the country battles with the pandemic.

“We support former Senator Bongbong Marcos in his desire to open all houses of worship during this pandemic. We are blessed because there is someone like him who stood and took charge with initiative for the work of the church, to give people the opportunity to express their faith and believe that Jesus is our blessed Hope in this pandemic,” Durante said.
