Chooks-to-Go backs Sinulog Cup

CHOOKS-to-Go continues to ignite the passion of Cebuanos for sports as it ushered in the launch of the Chooks Sinulog Cup 2023 which will be held from January 18-24.

Opening day will be held at the Cebu City Sports Institute while the rest of the tournament will be played at Cebu Coliseum.

A press conference was held at the Lloyds Cafe in the Bonifacio District with members of the Cebu sports media in attendance to launch the centerpiece sports event of the annual Sinulog celebration.

Present during the event were Cebu City Council member and basketball legend Dondon Hontiveros who is the Sinulog Execom Promotion Cluster Chairman, Atty. Jave Mike Aton who is the tournament commissioner, and co-commissioner Jonathan Saso. Coach Jerry Abuyabor represented Chooks-to-Go.

Chooks-to-Go President Ronald Mascariñas reiterated the company’s support for the growth of sports in the Queen City of the South.

“Cebu sports has always had a special place in the heart of Chooks-to-Go. It was here where our sports advocacy started. With our support of the Sinulog Cup, we intend to keep an eye on all the teams here in the hopes of finding potential talent that can be part of the national 3×3 team,” said the sports patron.

The Sinulog Cup will feature eight squads all raring to be crowned the hoops kings of Cebu.

Four of these are collegiate teams, namely Benedicto – Lakawan, University of San Carlos, University of Southern Philippines, and 2022 Chooks-to-Go CESAFI runner-up University of Cebu.

Four commercial teams will be out to give the college squads a run for their money. These are EGS – Aneda Builders from Sogod, the UNBL Stars of Bacolod, K & L of Naga, and local team Dh25 Rus.

The two teams will be split into two pools of four.

The champion team will be rewarded with a cash prize of P150,000, while the runner-up will receive P75,000.

The third placer will get P50,000.

Chooks-to-Go, the country’s undisputed chicken rotisserie market leader, has long supported sports development in Cebu.

The company was the main sponsor of the 2022 CESAFI which featured events such as basketball, volleyball, and sepak takraw.

The company also donated last year to the Sisters of Mary Boystown and Girlstown.
