Cholera outbreak in Tanza, Cavite

TANZA, Cavite – The local Rural Health Unit (RHU) here confirmed Friday that there is a cholera outbreak in the town after recording cases of diarrhea and vomiting in three barangays here.

According to Dr. Ruth Punzalan, head of Tanza RHU, the outbreak hits the barangays of Punta Uno, Sahud-Ulan and Calibuyo.

After the results of the specimens sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City came out, it was determined that a fisherman and a housewife were stricken with the water-borne disease.

Meanwhile, two children died after experiencing diarrhea and vomiting last week. Authorities continue to investigate the possible source of the cholera outbreak in the said barangays.

“Agarang tulong po ay ating ibibigay sa mga naapektuhan ng nasabing outbreak, pagbibigay ng malinis na tubig para sa kanilang inumin, magpapalagay po tayo ng maayos na deepwell poso in the respective areas,” Tanza Mayor Yuri Pacumio said in an interview.
