KAT Tolentino and Denden Lazaro produced solid performances as Choco Mucho turned back Bali Pure, 25-23, 23o-25, 25-13, 25-21, to extend its perfect run to five in the PVL Open Conference yesterday at the PCV Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Coach Oliver Almadro had high respects on the Water Defenders, who were able to steal the second set before the Flying Titans prevailed in the next two.

“Alam mo naman BaliPure since the tournament started, they’re so resilient. Yung hustle nila nandoon kapag nagulat ka sa hustle nila lalabas na doon cohesiveness ng team kung matagal na kami magkasama yun ang point doon,” said Almadro.

“Yung 5-0, wala. Ang importante yung learning araw-araw. Yun mgaanda sa mga player they accepted the challenge especially Kat and Denden (Lazaro) so talagang marami pa ding bagay bagay na kailangang maging consistent and fluid pa,” he added.

The Water Defenders, who have lost two in a row, dropped to 2-3.

BaliPure was on its way again to another rally when it pulled to within 21-22, in the fourth set on a combination play.

But a service error and a mishit foiled what could’ve been another fiery Water Defenders comeback as the Flying Titans, capitalizing on their opponent’s first ball, led to a Tolentino down-the-line hit that wrapped up the one-hour, 51-minute contest.

Graze Bombita fired two service aces to finish with 15 points and Gen Casugod added 10 markers for BaliPure.
