CHINA has donated 107 tons of rice to Northern Philippines, the Chinese Embassy in Manila said.

Represented by Head Consul Zhou Youbin, the Chinese Embassy in Manila, together with the Chinese Consulate in Laoag turned over the rice to ten Philippine provinces and cities.

These include Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Laoag City, Santiago City, and Dagupan City.

The turnover was held last week and was joined by Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc and Laoag City Mayor Keon Michael Marcos.

Chinese Ambassador to Manila Huang Xilian expressed hope “the tons of rice will make a humble contribution in alleviating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the hardship suffered by those families affected by the recent typhoon.”

Last month, floodings caused by severe tropical storm “Maring” displaced thousands of families and damaged millions of properties and agricultural produce.
