A LESS than two-year-old child perished in a fire that hit their home Saturday afternoon in Paranaque City.

Firefighters found the charred body of 1-year and 11-month old baby boy in the rubble of the room on the second floor of the two-story house at 4035 Culdesac Rotonda, Brgy. Sun Valley past 5 p.m.

He was the youngest among three siblings and was reportedly left alone in the room when the fire broke out at around 3:45 in the afternoon in a house owned by certain Wilfredo Prado and quickly spread to nearby houses that were mostly made up of light materials.

Paranaque Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) arson investigator SFO1 Gennie Huidem said the victim and his siblings were left under the care of their grandfather after their father went to work while their mother went to recruitment agency to follow-up her application for job abroad.

Huidem said the two siblings and their grandfather were at the ground floor of the house while the victim was sleeping in the room on the second floor when the fire broke out.

The blaze, that left 50 families homeless and gutted at least 13 houses, reached first alarm before it was put out at around 5:03 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire while the amount of damaged has not been determined.
