Child dev’t centers
EDUCATION plays a stellar role in speeding up the socio-economic development of countries across the globe.
However, without adequate financial resources, the government finds it hard to educate the youth at an early age.
In fact, there are still 5,800 barangays across the country without child development centers (CDCs);
This despite the fact that a 1990 law required the construction of at least one CDC in each of the nation’s villages
Records show that there are more 42,000 barangays in the Philippines, with an estimated population of 120 million.
The Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) had earlier asked President Marcos to allocate P700 million to finance the construction of CDCs in the next three years.
Last Tuesday, President Marcos approved the P700-million allocation during a meeting of concerned officials at Malacanang.
EDCOM 2 is a national commission tasked to undertake a comprehensive national assessment and evaluation of the performance of the education sector.
The construction of CDCs in fourth and fifth municipalities will enable these villages to provide the youth with early childhood development initiatives.
In the view of many, President Marcos’ approval of P700 million is a move in the right direction.
And as a well-meaning Filipinos, let’s support the government in educating people at an early age.
