Cessna trainer aircraft crashes, 2 hurt in Davao Or.

A CESSNA-150 aircraft owned by Mactan Aviation Tech Center, Inc. crash-landed in Barangay Don Martin Marundan, Mati, Davao Oriental Monday.

The training aircraft was carrying 2 crew members, pilot-in-command/flight instructor Capt. Manuel Nierra II and student pilot Jeremiah Agonia.

The crew members are now being treated for minor bruises at the Mati Provincial Hospital.

According to the initial report, the aircraft, bearing the registry number RP-C 9005, took off Mati Airport’s Runway 14 at or around 7:30 a.m. for touch and go landing but experienced a technical problem causing the aircraft to dive down and crash. The crash, which partially damaged the aircraft happened approximately 1 kilometer from the runway end.

CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) investigators have been dispatched to examine the incident and are now coordinating with the aircraft operator.
