Cayetano eyes Senate return
FORMER Speaker and Taguig City Representative Alan Peter Cayetano is seeking a comeback to the Senate.
In a statement, Cayetano announced that he is running for senator in the 2022 elections.
“I am running for senator of the Republic of the Philippines to work for a just and humane society, and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity, the blessing of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace,” Cayetano said.
“As I embark on the journey back to the Senate, I bring with me the knowledge and experience from decades of service as councilor, vice mayor, congressman, senator and DFA secretary,” he added.
The solon said as a legislator he wants to focus on health and economic livelihood which is needed nowadays due to the pandemic brought by COVID-19.
Last year, Cayetano was ousted as House Speaker after he refused to honor the gentleman’s agreement with now Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
In 2016, Cayetano was the running mate of President Rodrigo Duterte and ranked third.
