
Cavite starts 2nd booster jabs for HCWs, seniors, high-risk
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Cavite Provincial Health Department and 23 cities and municipalities here have started conducting vaccination of the second booster shots for healthcare workers (HCWs) (Category A1), senior citizens (Category A2), and the immunocompromised (Category A3) starting Friday, May 20, 2022.
Every seven cities and 16 towns now accept people from A1, A2, and A3 categories aside from the pediatric vaccination (ages 5 to 17) for the 2nd booster and the initial 1st and 2nd dose COVID-19 vaccines.
The inoculation of the second booster is being conducted in Velarde Health Center, Plaridel Health Center, and Greengate Health Center in Imus City; Robinsons Place GenTri, Vista Mall Gen Trias, and designated barangay health centers in General Trias and Primark Town Center vaccination site of Noveleta local government in Bgy. Magdiwang.
Other vaccination sites were shopping malls in Dasmariñas city namely Robinsons Place Palapala, SM City Dasmariñas, and Vista Mall Dasmariñas in Bgy. San Agustin.
The Tagaytay City Health Office also advised individuals to go to Tagaytay International Convention Center in Bgy. Kaybagal for the 1st and 2nd dose for the pediatric and general populations; first booster dose for healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities and 18 years old and above; and 2nd booster shot for frontliners, seniors, four months after the 1st booster.
In Kawit town, individuals can proceed to Kawit Rural Health Office in Bgy. Tabon 2 from Mondays to Fridays for the 1st and 2nd dose; 1st booster, and 2nd booster shot.
In Bacoor City, 1st dose and 2nd dose for the pediatric and adult population and 1st booster and 2nd booster shot are available at Main Square and SM Bacoor vaccination site.
Included in the immunocompromised individuals are the following: Immunodeficiency state, HIV, active cancer or malignancy, transplant recipients, undergoing steroid treatment, patients with poor prognosis/bedridden patients, and other conditions of immunodeficiency as certified by the physician.
For categories A1 (healthcare workers) and A2 (senior citizens), COVID-19 vaccine brands used were Pfizer and Moderna.
For the A3 category (immunocompromised persons), all COVID-19 vaccine brands available were used, depending on whether these are homologous or heterologous vaccines.
The A1 and A2 categories interval are four months after inoculation of the first booster shot.
While for the immunocompromised, three months interval after the first booster shot was given.
For those planning to have their booster shots in Cavite in their cities and municipalities, the health department advised those included in these categories to a vaccination ID indicating its two initial doses of inoculation and one booster shot; a valid ID; and a medical certificate for the immunocompromised.
Each individual included in the categories is encouraged to go to the nearest vaccination sites in their respective residences and have their second booster shot. By Dennis Abrina
