Cavite priest tests positive for COVID
TANZA, Cavite – The parish priest of the historic church of Diocesan Shrine of San Agustin Parish of Santa Cruz in Bgy. Poblacion, this town tested positive for COVID-19.
Aside from Rev. Fr. Virgilio Saenz Mendoza, his assistant parish priest, also caught the deadly virus.
Fr. Mendoza made the revelation in a post on the official social media page of the parish church on Saturday.
He said he is experiencing cough and flu while his assistant parish priest is asymptomatic.
Both are now in home isolation.
Fr. Mendoza said the entire church will be temporarily closed, including the parish office, for disinfection.
Sunday mass will also be temporarily cancelled.
Parishioners were advised to wait for the notification when the church will be reopened.
