GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Mayor Socorro Rosario ‘Corrie’ Poblete of Silang, Cavite, announced last Wednesday that she tested positive for the coronavirus, contracting the virus for the second time since April 2021. She is fully vaccinated and has taken a booster shot.

Sister Omil Poblete confirmed that the mayor tested positive in both antigen and RT-PCR tests last January 3. She is currently in isolation at home while experiencing mild symptoms.

In a statement she posted on Facebook, Poblete said local government offices remain open while she monitors the local government.

She also reminded her constituents to not leave their homes for unnecessary trips and to abide by the minimum health protocols.

Meanwhile, General Trias Vice Mayor Morit Sison admitted on his official Facebook account that he and his only daughter Mau tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Thursday.

“We can’t really tell the weather right now. We thought it was simple fever, cough and cold, it was different. This new year, I and maybe some of us also got sick with cough, cold and fever or simple flu because of the cold weather. Because I felt this symptom, I underwent an antigen test and we tested positive,” Sison said.

“For now, we are currently quarantined and isolated to ensure that our family and our employees are safe. As for me, my condition is fine. Although my daughter Mau still has a slight fever and cough, she continues to recover in our home,” Sison added.

“…So everyone, let’s be doubly careful because we don’t know our opponent. Let us strengthen our resistance and body. And let us not ignore our simple feelings, especially in today’s time when there are more and more cases in our country,” Sison also said.

Meanwhile, General Trias City topnotch councilor and vice mayoral candidate Jonas Labuguen also admitted in his social media page that he tested positive for COVID-19 last January 3. He is now on his fourth day of isolation in a local quarantine site.
