Cavite celebrates Oral Health Month
AMADEO, CAVITE – In celebration of the Oral Health Month, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer, in coordination the Rural Health Unit and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Amadeo, and the Philippine Dental Association – Cavite Chapter, organized an oral health event dubbed as “Pamilya, Una Kong Dentista,” in this town on Feb. 19.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Melinda Villanueva, Amadeo municipal health officer, to the guests and attendees, urging their full support in the program.
It was followed by a message from Dr. Melnita Bayot, PDA , Cavite Chapter president, reminding the parents of their vital role in maintaining their children’s healthy teeth, as good dental health should start at home.
“Patuloy po kayong makisangkot sa pag-aalaga sa ngipin ng inyong mga anak. Kayo po ang laging kasama sa tahanan. Sipagan po ang paglilinis ng ngipin ng inyong mga anak,”she said.
Dr. Mary Ann Montenegro, Cavite provincial oral health manager, stated that their objective is to foster good oral hygiene and prevent dental caries and gum diseases, especially among the young ones.
Montenegro gave an informative lecture on Oral Health Education, affirming their strong desire to elevate the dental health and overall well-being of the residents.
Dental kits were distributed to the children as proper tooth brushing was demonstrated by Dr. Suzette Pulido.
The children also received free fluoride application for stronger teeth.
