Cavite celebrates Filipino Food Month

THE Provincial Government of Cavite, through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, celebrated Filipino Food Month with the theme “Pagkaing Pilipino Susi sa Pag-unlad at Pagbabago”, Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Cavite Provincial Capitol Lobby.

In partnership with the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood, and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCLEDO-Cavite), the exhibit featured famous delicacies and other food prepared or cooked the same way or inherited from our ancestors.

The famous food products of the province that became part of the exhibit were Pansit Pusit and Pansit Puso of Asiong Caviteño Restaurant, Samala Rice Cake of Pat and Sam Delicacies and Pasalubong, coffee of Cafe Amadeo Bakery Cafe, and Bibingkoy of Hattdy’s Kitchen.

According to Cavite Provincial Tourism Officer Rozelle Sangalang, the program aims to promote and preserve the local cuisines and delicacies in the province and rebuild the image of Cavite cuisine amid the pandemic.

Some of the Cavite towns have famous and delicious food, which has become even more popular and is visited by tourists to taste Caviteño dishes.

These are the famous Digman Halo Halo of Barangay Digman and Tahong Chips of Bacoor City, almondigas, longganisa, katalin, and Hany choco peanut bar of Imus City.

Valenciana dish and kesong puti can be bought at the public markets and local restos like Jams Cafe and Mang Mike’s valenciana in Bgy. San Juan 1, General Trias City.

Other delicious foods like bacalao, bibingkoy, chin chao of Cavite City, and dried fishes of San Rafael IV from Noveleta are well known.

Rosario town offers famous tinapang Salinas and Pancit Luglog.

Tourists can visit Binalot sa Dahon ng Saging of Carmona town and Calandracas of Tanza town together with their Patis Amaya.

The delicious Amadeo Coffee paired with Jacobina can be found in Mendez.

Other popular Cavite delicacies are the famous kakanin of Indang (Kalamay Indang), Tilbok of Magallanes town, and mushrooms of GMA town.

These are just a few of the long-recognized Caviteño cuisine that has sustained many families now that tourism is slowly returning after the Covid pandemic hit the country.
