HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez is concerned about the sudden closure of Kuwait’s border to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the past few days.

Because of this, Speaker Romualdez will summon the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to find out what is the reason for Kuwait’s action.

“I just want to find out mula sa DFA at DMW ang tunay na dahilan sa aksyon ng Kuwait”, the House Speaker said.

Earlier, Kuwait said that the Philippines did not comply with the “bilateral agreement” between the two countries.

“We want to be clarified, anong parte o portion ng nasabing agreement ang hindi natin tinupad kung meron man”, said Romualdez.

The leader of Congress added, “ hindi lang kasi ilang OFW ang apektado sa utos na ito kundi hundreds of Filipinos”.

It can be recalled that the Philippines implemented a ban on OFWs who will work in Kuwait last February after the heinous killing of OFW Juleebee Ranara last January.

“Pero of course, our priority is the safety ng mga kababayan natin rather than work”, Romualdez further said.
