THE Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the case against the woman who was accused of concocting an abduction that went viral on social media after the police officer who handled the investigation withdrew the complaint.

Caloocan police chief P/Col. Ruben Lacuesta said Lt. Ronald Batalla, chief of Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB), submitted his withdrawal of complaint against Samantha Pargad to Caloocan City Assistant City Prosecutor Marni Rose Zatarain who recommended the dismissal of the case which was approved by Chief City Prosecutor Ferdinand Valbuena.

Lt. Batalla, in his withdrawal of complaint, said that after re-examining the circumstances which led him to file a case of unlawrul utterances and libel against Pargad, he came to realize that the complaint was mistakenly filed by him as it arose from his misappreciation of facts and circumstances.

No less than National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director P/BGen. Jonnel Estomo personally expressed his apologies to Pargad for inconvenience that has brought to the parties involved and assured that his leadership will continue to deliver quality police services under his flagship program, S.A.F.E. NCRPO.

“Let us move on for there are more important tasks ahead to ensure public safety, security and peace and order in Metro Manila.” BGen. Estomo said after the dismissal of the case.

It can be recalled that on September 23, 2022, the Caloocan police filed charges against Pargad who reported that a motorcycle rider harassed her but investigators found out that she and the rider allegedly knew each other, based on the statements of two witnesses.

However, after a thorough evaluation of the case, it was found out that the collected pieces of evidence cannot stand to support a solid case.

“Sa ating mga kababayan, sana ay hindi na maulit ang pangyayaring ito. Ang NCRPO ay bukas para kay Miss Pargad upang siya ay tulungan sa kung anuman ang aksiyon na nais niyang gawin. Muli po kaming nagpapaalala na maging responsable po sana tayong lahat sa pag gamit ng social media upang makaiwas tayo sa anumang hindi magandang maidudulot sa maling pag gamit nito.” RD Estomo said.
