Carnap suspect killed in Novaliches shootout

AN alleged carnapper was killed in a shootout with authorities in Novaliches, Quezon City, on Tuesday morning.

Police Major Don Don Llapitan, chief of the QCPD (Quezon City Police District) District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU) said the still unidentified suspect was about 5”4’ in height, slim built, wearing a black jacket, short brown pants, and with tattoos inscribed as “Lito Gomez on his right arm and “Edwin Ching” on his back.

The report showed that at about 2:21 a.m. of Nov. 8, 2022, personnel of DACU were conducting an anti-criminality operation when they monitored through a radio flash alarm from the District Tactical Operation Center (DTOC) regarding a carnapping incident involving a maroon/white SYM motorcycle that was forcibly taken by two unidentified suspects at about 1:15 a.m., along Dhalia St. corner Walnut St. Bgy. Fairview, Quezon City.

DACU operatives immediately proceeded to Fairview Police Station (PS 5) and assisted the victim.

While they were traversing the area of Mindanao Ave., Extension Bgy. Sta. Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City, they reportedly spotted the suspects on board on their respective motorcycles. The victim positively identified them as the same person who took his motorcycle.

The operatives flagged down the suspects, but Instead of stopping, they sped off, prompting the operatives to chase them.

They were eventually cornered. However, when the operatives were about to approach the suspects, one of them suddenly pulled out his handgun and fired at the lawmen, hitting one of the operative’s bullet vest.

A brief shootout ensued, which resulted in the death of one of the suspects, while his cohort managed to escape.

Authorities recovered the victim’s SYM motorcycle, a black Honda Click without a plate number, and a cal. .38 revolver.
