PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos on Thursday reminded all motorists and commuters to bring their vaccination cards which may be required to enter border control points in Metro Manila and Bulacan.

Carlos issued the reminders as Bulacan and cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) which were placed under alert level 3 instructed police personnel to check for proof of vaccination of inbound travelers.

Earlier, the Metro Manila mayors unanimously passed a resolution to restrict public movement of unvaccinated persons within the National Capital Region.

“Those without vaccination cards will be barred from entering and will be asked to go back,” Carlos said.

In Bulacan, the first day of implementation of the policy caused traffic congestion.

The said it is only a direct result of the strict inspection measures implemented to curb the possible spread of the coronavirus.

“The PNP is fully aware that movement must not be hampered, but non-essential travel can be controlled. Just stay at home at this time when you have nothing important to do outside,” Carlos said.

Carlos assured the public that the PNP will continue to assess the situation every day and vowed to deploy more police personnel if needed to checkpoints with a heavy volume of vehicles.
