Carlos leads oath-taking of 14 newly-promoted generals

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos on Wednesday afternoon led the oathtaking and donning of ranks of 14 newly-promoted star-rank officials in the 225,000-strong police force.

The 14 include newly-promoted Police Major General Valeriano T. de Leon, Maj. Gen. Ronaldo E. Olay and Maj. Gen. Rex L. Urbano.

De Leon of Philippine Military Academy ‘Makatao’ Class of 1989 is currently the PNP Director for Operations while Olay of PMA ‘Bigkis Lahi’ Class of 1990 is the PNP Director for Logistics.

Urbano of PNP Academy Class 1992 is the PNP Deputy Inspector General.

The others are newly-promoted Police Brigadier General Lyndon A. Mencio, Dexter G. Rellora, Joel B. Limzon, Baltazar V. Rivera, Joaquin R. Alva, Roderick Augustus B. Alba, Ernesto V. Tendero Jr., Ferdinand T. Navarro, Pablo G. Labra II, Bowenn Joey M. Masauding and Andre P. Dizon.

Dizon of PNP Academy Class 1994 is the Senior Executive Assistant of the PNP Chief while Alba of PNPA Class 1992 is the one who replaced Olay as the PNP spokesperson and chief of the PNP Public Information Office last October 1.

Alba’s classmate from PNPA Class 1992, Alva has been the PNP Secretary to the Directorial Staff since September 15, 2021.

Mencio is from the Western Mindanao Area Police Command; Rellora is the Executive Officer of the Directorate for Plans; Limson is the Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the Police Regional Office 8; Tendero is assigned at the PNP Academy; Navarro is assigned at the PNP-IAS; Labra is the DRDA of the Bangsamoro Administrative Region Police Regional Office; and Masauding is the Executive Officer of the Directorate for Comptrollership.

The promotion of the 14 was approved by President Rodrigo Duterte following a recommendation from Gen. Carlos and National Police Commission chairman, Secretary Eduardo M. Año.
