Carlos condoles with slain Laguna cop’s family
PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Dionardo B. Carlos on Monday expressed his condolences to the family of a Laguna policeman slain in the line of duty as he vowed full justice for the victim.
“I extend the sincerest condolences of the PNP to the orphaned family of the late Police Chief Master Sergeant Gilbert Robles Briz, who died due to a gunshot wound while performing his duty during an anti-illegal gambling operation,” the top cop said.
It turned out that the 42-year old member of the Pangil Municipal Police Station (MPS) was shot by one Ronilo Oliveros Ruben alias “Babap” during an anti-illegal gambling operation in Barangay Sulib around 10:46 a.m. Sunday.
The suspect managed to escape but was captured in a follow-up operation by combined agents of the Pangil and Siniloan Police Stations led by Majors Reymond Austria and Silver Cabanillas in Bgy. Bagumbayan in Paete municipality eight hours later.
“The PNP vows justice for Police Chief Master Sergeant Briz even as we assure the bereaved family of all benefits and assistance due him,” Gen. Carlos said.
