Caraga police arrest 8 in anti-crime ops
CARAGA policemen have hauled to jail eight crime suspects following separate anti-criminality operations, Police Regional Office 13 director Brigadier General Kirby John B. Kraft said on Sunday.
Last Monday, the official said that members of the Surigao City Police Office arrested a drug suspect during a buy-bust which led to the confiscation of around P136,000 worth of shabu.
The arrested was a 26-year-old resident identified only as ‘Sol.’ “The suspect was arrested after a month-long monitoring triggered by reports about his involvement in illegal drug activities in the city,” said the official.
Kraft said that the suspect yielded 20 grams of shabu worth P136,000.
Last Tuesday, Caraga policemen arrested a 68-year old man identified only as ‘Rod’ during an anti-illegal weapons’ raid in Bgy. Kapatungan in Trento, Agusan del Sur.
Recovered from the suspect was an unlicensed caliber .45 semi-automatic pistol with two magazines containing 25 live ammunition.
Another suspect, identified only as alias ‘Ben,’ was apprehended while in possession of a cal. .45 pistol with two magazines containing 18 bullets.
The 4th suspect, identified as ‘Jon,’ 37, was arrested in a sting in Bgy. 1, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. The suspect yielded 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000 and a cal. .38 revolver with 10 live ammunition.
Benito Margate, the fifth suspect, was arrested in his residence in Bgy. San Antonio in Cateel, Davao Oriental.
Kraft said Benito is facing murder case.
The 6th suspect, identified as ‘Lor,’ was arrested for violation of the anti-child abuse law in his residence in Bgy. San Toribio in Esperanza town.
Two other wanted rape suspects were also hauled to jail by the Caraga police.
The PRO13 director said that the suspects were identified as Leonilo Butron, 21; and Dwaney Gemao,19.
