
Caraga cops arrest 15 wanted rapists, child abusers
FIFTEEN persons wanted for non-bailable rape and acts of lasciviousness cases in Caraga region were arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 13 as a result of their intensified effort to account for all lawbreakers, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
PRO13 director Brig. Gen. Christopher N. Abrahano said those apprehended include seven Regional Level Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), one Provincial Level MWP and seven Municipal/City/Station Level MWPs.
One of the arrested suspects with the alias “Jeff,” 39, tagged as the 3rd Regional Level MWP, was arrested in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for rape issued by the Lianga, Surigao del Sur Regional Trial Court Branch 28 on July 1, 2009.
The suspect was accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old mentally incapacitated minor through force and intimidation in February 2008.
The other Regional Level MWPs accounted for by the PRO13 were one “Adonis,” 49, the 2nd Regional Level MWP in Southern Mindanao,where he is facing charges for five counts of statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness; a certain “Arnel,” 27, the 2nd Regional Level MWP in Region 13; one “Keljim,”42, the 4th Regional Level MWP facing charges for rape and acts of lasciviousness; a certain “Helito,” 45, the 5th Regional Level MWP wanted for rape; one “Mark,” 19, the 6th Regional Level MWP wanted for statutory rape; and one alias “JR,” 35, the 8th Regional Level MWP wanted for rape.
Abrahano said that one “James,” a 76th Provincial Level MWP, was also arrested for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act.
The other Provincial Level MWPs jailed by the Caraga police force were one alias “Herman,” 45, and alias “Dave,” 37, both wanted for violation of RA 9262; “Jhef,” 33; “Apolinario,” 37; and a minor facing rape cases; one “Reneiboy,” 31, wanted for statutory rape; and one alias “Elmer,” 44, wanted for acts of lasciviousness in relation to RA 7610.
“I commend the men and women of PRO13 for the successful law enforcement operations. Each arrest warrant served is a victory for the victims who deserve justice and for the communities longing for peace,” Abrahano said.
