PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. on Saturday congratulated the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO13) headed by Brigadier Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. for hauling 204 lawbreakers in Caraga region to jail and confiscating a huge volume of drugs and illegal guns.

“Congratulations for keeping the fire burning. We are now projecting a very active police organization eager to curb criminality in the communities we serve,” the top cop said in commending Brig. Gen. Caramat and his men for their latest anti-crime accomplishments.

The PNP chief said the PRO13’s implementation of Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations otherwise known as the PNP ‘One-Time, Big-Time’ anti-crime operation last Tuesday led to the arrest of 176 wanted persons.

They include 9 Regional Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), 18 Provincial MWPs, 21 City/Municipal MWPs and 128 Other Wanted Persons.

Caramat said his men also simultaneously serve 14 search warrants for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by local courts against 10 targets.

The anti-drug raids resulted in the arrest of 10 known drug traffickers in the region and the confiscation of nearly P80,000 worth of shabu.

The official said that 18 violators of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 were also arrested on the same day following the service of 20 search warrants which led in the recovery of 29 assorted unlicensed guns.

The suspects arrested for illegal guns and drugs are now facing charges for violation of RA 10591 and RA 9175 respectively. Caramat said the 176 wanted persons arrested will be presented to the court for issuance of jail commitment order.

The 176 were arrested on the strength of warrants for crimes such as murder, rape, homicide, theft and illegal drugs and possession of illegal firearms, the Caraga police director said.
