Caloocan tops disaster response in PH
NO less than the President of the Republic of the Philippines, President Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr. awarded the Gawad Kalasag Seal to Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan for being declared by the Office of Civil Defense – National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (OCD-NDRRMC) as the Best Highly-Urbanized City in the whole country for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance programs.
The recognition was conferred by the OCD-NDRRMC to the City Government of Caloocan, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD), for its beyond-compliant innovations in integrating internationally accepted and sustainable DRRM policies in its practices as well as ensuring disaster preparedness in all levels, which included the establishment of several Alert and Monitoring Stations in various localities and the consistent excellent services provided by its very own emergency hotline, 888-ALONG.
Mayor Along expressed his pride in receiving the distinction and noted that this was both a culmination of his promise to be one of the top local government units in DRRM as well as a challenge to continuously upgrade and develop the already excellent programs in place.
“Isang malaking karangalan na tanggapin mula mismo kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang pagkilala bilang numero uno sa buong Pilipinas pagdating sa pagtugon sa mga sakuna at kalamidad,” Mayor Along said.
