CALOOCAN TOP DRUG TARGET NABBED

PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Officer-in-Charge, Colonel Rolando B. Cuya Jr. yesterday announced the arrest of one of their top targets in Metro Manila after he sold 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000 to an undercover officer in Caloocan City.

In a report to PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said that the suspect with the alias ‘Jabbar,’27, was arrested in a sting in Barangay 188, Caloocan City around 10:20 p.m. Saturday.

He said that another ‘high-value target’ in Region 1 yielded nearly P60,000 worth of shabu during an anti-drug operation in Bgy. Balite Sur in San Carlos City in Pangasinan on the same evening.

The suspect was identified only as 60-year-old ‘Cynthia.’

PNP-DEG operatives were also involved in a similar operation at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City last Thursday which led to the confiscation of nearly 1.6 kilos of Kush, a high-grade marijuana derivative valued at nearly P2.2 million.

Four men from Cavite are now being investigated in connection with the foiled drug smuggling attempt, said the PDEA headed by Director General Isagani R. Nerez.

Another suspect was described as a 48-year-old woman from Bgy. Talisay in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte was arrested after she sold 30 grams of shabu valued at P204,000 to an undercover officer past 4 p.m. Saturday.

Col. Cuya said that prior to last Saturday’s operations, they also accounted for 15 government targets and seized nearly P16.5 million worth of shabu and high-grade marijuana.

One of the suspects identified as ‘Javs,’39, was arrested inside his house in Bgy. Pocal-Pocal in Alaminos City, Pangasinan on Monday.

The suspect yielded 35 grams of shabu worth P238,000.

Col. Cuya said that another operation inside Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga last Monday also resulted in the recovery of nearly 1.3 kilos of shabu worth around P8.8 million.

No arrest however was made during the controlled delivery operation spearheaded by the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group of which the PNP-DEG was a member unit.
